The core has a waterproof resin coating e.g. a plastic film (2), on each of its sides, and a polyester coating (3) on the exterior side. Wicks (4) made of glass or organic fibers are introduced into the holes pierced at regular intervals in the core. The wicks are introduced to connect the two sides of the core, and to be embedded in the resin during a low pressure injection of the resin. An independent claim is also included for a method of fabricating a polypropylene honeycomb core.
