A map display apparatus can easily be detached from a vehicle such as an automobile and a user can easily carry the apparatus and get guide information even while walking. Even when a mounted memory has a small capacity, the display apparatus can fetch effective and sufficient map data. The map display apparatus includes a map information supply medium block (19) and a separable operation unit (A1). The operation unit includes a storage medium block (11), a control block for reading map data from the map information supply medium block (19) and storing the read map data in a storage medium block, and a display block (2) for displaying the map data which has been read in. |
