<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pattern and a pattern forming method capable of increasing an expressible information amount. <P>SOLUTION: This pattern 10 is formed on the rear face 2b of a glass substrate 2. About one cell, four-value information is expressed according to whether the dot D is formed or not, and which dot D of the first to third dots D1-D3 is formed.
