PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic program guide information acquiring instrument which is used for offering comfortable viewing and listening environment by using an electronic program guide information acquiring method which does not disturb a user from viewing and listening of a program on air as much as possible, while maintaining the newest information moderately. SOLUTION: The electronic program guide information acquiring instrument 100 contains a current network ID holder 112 which stores a current network ID under present channel selection, a selecting network ID holder 114 which stores a selecting network ID of event selected by a user, and an electronic program guide information database 116 which stores a table required in order to create an electronic program guide. In a channel selection controller 101, the current network ID is compared with the selecting network ID, and an instruction on whether channel selection is performed or not is sent to a channel selector 103.
