PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect unauthorized use of IP telephone service by an OABJ number in PLC. SOLUTION: The unauthorized use detection method includes the stages of: receiving an authentication request including a user ID from an IP telephone adapter through a connecting device gathering data characteristic of the IP telephone adapter to detect unauthorized use of the IP telephone adapter; confirming whether a user ID included in the authentication request is the user ID of a registered user; and acquiring data including data characteristic of the IP telephone adapter from a connecting device previously registered corresponding to the user ID included in the authentication request and confirming whether the data characteristic of the IP telephone adapter includes data previously registered corresponding to the user ID included in the authentication request. The connecting device is introduced to acquire and confirm not only the user ID, but also the data (e.g. MAC address) characteristic of the IP telephone adapter from the connecting device specified with the user ID, thereby detecting the unauthorized use.
