PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner having a light source, a deflection means which scans a light beam from the light source, and a focusing means which focuses the light beam scanned with the deflection means on a face to be scanned, and in which the tilt of scanning lines on the face to be scanned is made variable by turning an optical element, which constitutes the focusing means and has focusing power at least in a subscanning direction, in a plane orthogonal to an optical axis, thus the straightness of focused line is stabley kept without deformoing the optical face of the optical element, and to provide an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: Both the end parts in the longitudinal direction of the optical element (305) are supported by a pair of receiving parts (310) of a supporting member having rigidity larger than that of the optical element. A movable member (308) abutting in the subscanning direction at an intermediate position of the receiving parts and a pressurizing means (302) which pressurizes the optical element against the movable member are provided.
