PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical fiber cable that does not deteriorate transmission characteristics of an optical fiber by sheath heat in covering a core assembly with a sheath, and also to provide the optical fiber cable and the sheath for the optical fiber cable. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the optical fiber cable comprises: opening a notch 21 at a prescribed position while supplying the cylindrical sheath 20 having the notch 21 in a longitudinal direction; and closing and bonding the notch 21 after being inserted from the notch 21 opening the collected core 35 storing the optical fiber 34. Thus, the transmission characteristics of the optical fiber is prevented from being worsened by heat in forming the sheath 20 by a melted resin as in the case of the conventional method.
