摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of inexpensively manufacturing a stepped shaft component of titanium alloy. SOLUTION: Plated layers 22 and 24 are formed on the surface 20 of a shaft material 18 in plating processes P4 and P5. Then, the shaft material 18 is forged into a stepped blank 50 in a cold or warm forging process P7. Since the plated layers 22 and 24 are interposed between a die 26 or 34 or 44 and the shaft material 18, the titanium alloy does not contact the die 26 or the like. This can satisfactorily restrain the shaft material 18 and the blank 32 or 42 or 50 from causing seizure with respect to the die 26 etc., whereby the stepped shaft blank 50 can be formed by forging so that the stepped shaft component 10 of titanium alloy can be manufactured inexpensively.
