<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming system constituted such that a plurality of identical optional devices are controlled by identical communication lines without using a specific control line. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming system comprises a version comparison means for comparing a version of a control program for updating with a version of a control program to be updated, an updating target selection means for selecting a second central arithmetic processor which is necessary to be updated based on the comparison result by the version comparison means, and a detection means for detecting the completion of the updating. Each second central arithmetic processor selected by the updating target selection means is sequentially, independently updated by a third communication means by using a dedicated identification code respectively applied thereto. When the detection means detects that all the second central arithmetic processors selected by the updating target selection means are updated, a first central arithmetic processor resets all the second central arithmetic processors by using the third communication means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
