A hydraulic press manufactures an automotive component (37) in a form tool (28). The tool pressurises material within a chamber with upper (27) and lower (26) dies. The upper die has a hydraulic cylinder and piston unit (30) in which the plunger limits the travel of a mechanical press (2), and the cylinder chamber is linked to a void in the component (37). The press (2) has a pressure regulation unit consisting of a piston-cylinder and spring unit (1). The press (2) has a further attachment for an accessory such as punch, cutter, machine joining or thread cutter.
