PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shape recognition device for preventing influence due to the reflected light of a visible light, such as fluorescent lamp on the surface of a workpiece. SOLUTION: The geometry recognition device comprises a workpiece support means for supporting the workpiece, a light irradiation means for irradiating light on the workpiece supported by the workpiece support means, an imaging means for imaging the workpiece supported by the workpiece support means, and a control means for recognizing the contour of the workpiece, on the basis of an image signal imaged by the imaging means. The light irradiating means irradiates light of a wavelength range other than 380-780 nm, and the imaging means has mounted a polarizing filter that passes a light of wavelength to be irradiated by the light irradiation means, by interrupting light in the wavelength range of 380-780 nm.
