PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical timepiece equipped with such a regulating mechanism as to easily adjust the effective length of an outer circumferential part of a hairspring without the need for a regulator of a complicated structure. SOLUTION: In the mechanical timepiece of this invention, a balance 70 with a hairspring includes a balance staff 71; a hairspring 474; and a balance wheel 79. A plurality of hairspring outer end fixing parts 475a-475f for determining the effective length of the hairspring 474 and fixing an outer end of the hairspring 474 are provided for an outer circumferential part 474g of the hairspring 474 at regular angle intervals. A hairspring outer end positioning part 476 for positioning the hairspring outer end fixing parts 475a-475f is provide for a balance bridge 72. By arranging one pin among outer end fixing pins in the hairspring outer end positioning part 476, it is possible to adjust the effective length of the hairspring 474. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
