PROTON CONDUCTING HYDROGEL, PROTON CONDUCTOR MAKING USE OF THE SAME AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING PROTON CONDUCTING HYDROGEL

A proton conducting hydrogel that can retain an amorphous viscous gel structure for a prolonged period of time. Metal ions with a high binding strength to phosphate molecular chains, such as Al ions, have been added to a proton conducting hydrogel composed of a dispersion medium of water and a dispersed phase of phosphate molecular chains, which proton conducting hydrogel is obtained by reacting a phosphate glass with water. In the resultant hydrogel, the added metal ions coordinate with the phosphate molecular chains of the proton conducting hydrogel to thereby suppress any cleavage of phosphate molecular chains, and induce binding of orthophosphate groups to thereby reconstruct phosphate molecular chains. Consequently, crystal precipitation and viscosity drop can be inhibited, thereby enabling retention of a viscous gel structure for a prolonged period of time.
