A catalytic electrode for a dye sensitized solar cell including a light transmitting semiconductor electrode containing a dye having photosensitizing potency and an electrolyte layer containing redox pair chemical species, the catalytic electrode disposed opposite to the semiconductor electrode with the electrolyte layer interposed therebetween, which catalytic electrode is characterized by having a conductive polymer layer on an electrode base. Further, there is provided a dye sensitized solar cell comprising at least a light transmitting semiconductor electrode containing a dye having photosensitizing potency, an electrolyte layer containing at least redox pair chemical species and a catalytic electrode disposed opposite to the semiconductor electrode with the electrolyte layer interposed therebetween, wherein the catalytic electrode is the above-mentioned catalytic electrode.
