The sensor comprises: at least one radiation emitter (210); at least one radiation receiver (215 to 219) for receiving the radiation, which is emitted by the radiation emitter(s) and which is modulated by a moving body located at a distance from the device in an emission field of at least one emitter, said receiver being configured for furnishing a signal representing the position of said moving body; a signal processing means (220 to 235) emitted by each receiver for determining the position of the moving body; a controlling means (230, 235) configured for furnishing output signals according to the position of the body supplied by the signal processing means, and; a storage means (230) configured for storing the output signals of the controlling means when the moving body in not in the emission field of at least one emitter.
