<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a library apparatus in which transportation work of a recording medium can be continued even if a drive is replaced. <P>SOLUTION: The library apparatus is constituted of a storing shelf (1) provided with a plurality of storing regions, a recording medium group (2) provided at a part of the storing shelf, a drive group (3) performing reading and writing with respect to the medium, a host computer (4), and an accessor (5). The host computer (4) transmits to the accessor a recording medium transportation instruction including a sending side address indicating a first storing region in which the recording medium is stored and a receiving side address indicating a second storing region. Since diagnosis processing is performed in such a manner that the accessor interprets the sending side address as a recording medium storing region for diagnosis in which a recording medium (7) for diagnosing a drive is stored, and interprets the receiving side address as an exchanged drive, the diagnosis processing can be surely performed even in the transportation work of the recording medium. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
