<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for forming plate glass whose forming capacity is improved and which can keep the stable plate thickness-forming dimensional grade for a long period of time and a method of forming the plate glass using the plate glass forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus 10 for forming the plate glass has a gutter-like molten glass supply groove 10a having an opened upper part on the top part, both side wall top parts of the glass supply groove 10a are used as an overflow weir and both side walls are terminated at a lower end 10d so that the cross-section of the outside surface parts 10c of both side walls is formed to be almost wedge-shaped. In the apparatus for forming the plate glass P, molten glass G is continuously supplied from one end of the glass supply groove 10a, is overflown from both side-wall top ridges 10e, is made to flow down along both side wall outside surface 10c and is joined at the wedge-shaped lower end 10d. The overflow weir of the glass supply groove 10a has a projecting continuous curved line parts having upper parts forming tops of both side-wall top ridges 10e in a part of both side-wall ridges 10e in which the center parts of the ridges are included. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
