<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine that a calling/called party is reliable by confirming that voice characteristic information and the calling/called party's voice information represent the same person. <P>SOLUTION: Based upon a signature produced by a reliable certificate authority, this speaker identification apparatus determines whether or not the voice characteristic information has been falsified. If not, the voice characteristic information is compared with voice information to determine if they represent the same person. Further, information for specifying a person is outputted to the speaker identification apparatus to specify who is the calling/called party.
