<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active material capable of enhancing its filling ability by making the shape of the positive electrode active material spherical, and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery using the material. <P>SOLUTION: The aspect ratio of the positive electrode active material is not more than 1.5 at the cumulative percentage of 80%, and when measuring TAP density of the positive electrode active material by tapping it 20 times and 300 times, the ratio of the TAP density obtained by tapping it 20 times to the TAP density obtained by tapping it 300 times is in the range of not less than 0.92 and not more than 1.
