PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of enhancing character recognition accuracy for characters or the like prone to be misrecognized. SOLUTION: In the case of printing an image, a printer is controlled to embed information regarding characters in the image to the image by means of electronic watermark processing and prints the image. An image processing apparatus acquires the information regarding the characters embedded by the electronic watermark processing from the image obtained by reading and recognizes the characters in the image on the basis of the acquired information.
