A photographic silver halide colour developer contains an oxathia-ether of the formula:- wherein n is 0, 1 or 2, d and m are 0 or 1, X 1 and X 2 are oxygen or sulphur (except that they do not both represent oxygen and do not both, when n is 0, represent sulphur), R is hydroxy, alkoxy or carboxylic acyloxy, or, when n and d are 0 and X 2 is sulphur, a carbamyl group, and R<SP>1</SP> is ethylene or alkyl-substituted ethylene such as a methylsubstituted ethylene. R may be methoxy, ethoxy, n-propoxy, n-butoxy, acetoxy or n-butyroxy. The developer solutions are of particular use in colour reversal processes and may contain colour couplers. Colour developing solutions specified comprise, inter alia, sulphuric acid, sodium bromide, potassium iodide, sodium hexametaphosphate, sodium carbonate, and H-acid.
