PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an air conditioner wherein an adsorption type refrigerating device composed of a heat exchanger having cooling and heating functions in place of a heater core is provided adjacent to an air conditioning duct, thereby making the cooling and heating functions compatible. SOLUTION: The air conditioner is provided with an adsorber 20 with adsorbent for adsorbing and desorbing a refrigerant, and an evaporating and liquefying heat exchanger 30 wherein the refrigerant is evaporated upon adsorption and is heated by a heating medium to be vaporized. When the evaporating and liquefying heat exchanger 30 communicates with the adsorber 20, air cooled by a heat exchanger 12 for cooling is further cooled, with latent heat of vaporization generated when the refrigerant is evaporated by the evaporating and liquefying heat exchanger 30 as a cold heat source. Also, when communication of the evaporating and liquefying heat exchanger 30 with the adsorber 20 is cut off, and the heating medium is distributed to the evaporating and liquefying heat exchanger 30, the refrigerant is vaporized by the evaporating and liquefying heat exchanger 30, and the air cooled by the heat exchanger 12 for cooling is heated, with condensation heat generated when the refrigerant is liquefied as a hot heat source.
