<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic imaging device and a dynamic range expanding method thereof which can expand the dynamic range using a simple method, by utilizing a conventional imaging element, and to provide a program. <P>SOLUTION: A digital camera 100 is provided with a shutter 102, an imaging element 103, an AGC 105 for automatically controlling a gain, an image processing unit 107 for applying image processing of a digital signal by an internal image developing unit 119 and an image-compressing unit 120, and an internal monitor 115 for displaying a photographed image and a user-selectable image quality option etc. When an image quality option selecting screen 602 is displayed on the internal monitor 115 and a user selects D range expansion, the smaller the number of pixels of an output image is, the smaller the set value of the gain of the image pickup element will be, and the smaller the set gain is, the larger the set gamma conversion characteristics are. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
