<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source device having high display quality, and provide a method for manufacturing such a high quality surface light source device at a low cost. <P>SOLUTION: The surface light source device having at least one light source 1 and a plate-like light guide plate 10 consisting of a light entering face 11 onto which light from the light source 1 is made incident, a light exiting face 12 which is crossing at right angles with the light entering face 11 from which light entered from the light entering face 11 is emitted, a counter face 13 facing the light exiting face 12, the light exiting face 12 or the counter face 13 of the guide plate 10 are made as a rough face, arithmetic average roughness is found in the rough face, and also, in the rough face, ten-point average roughness is set not more than around fifteen times of the arithmetic average roughness. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
