PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically regulate pressure balance between intake pressure of gas taken into a gas compressor main body and delivery pressure of gas delivered from the gas compressor main body without emitting gas out of a system in a gas compressor. SOLUTION: This gas compressor is provided with a compressor main body 10 driven as drive force is supplied, and an electromagnetic clutch 80 to connect/disconnect transmission of the drive force from an external power source to the compressor main body 10. In the compressor main body 10, an intake chamber 25 and a delivery chamber 26 are formed in a housing 20, and between the intake chamber 25 and the delivery chamber 26, a compression mechanism part 30 is disposed to be slidable for displacement toward the intake chamber 25 or the delivery chamber 26 in accordance with balance between pressure Ps of the intake chamber and pressure Pd of the delivery chamber 26. The compression mechanism part 30 and the electromagnetic clutch 80 are connected to each other in such a way that connection/disconnection of the electromagnetic clutch 80 are switched based on sliding displacement of the compression mechanism part 30.
