PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automotive vacuum cleaner, in which the shock is absorbed when the vacuum cleaner bumps against obstacles such as an indoor wall surface, without increasing the number of sensor elements incorporated in a bumper member, or without adding large-scale members such as springs, a shock absorber or the like. SOLUTION: A bumper member 10, a plastic damper 4 which is arranged in the space between a rotary brush 2 and an external corner 11 above the rotary brush 2 and a resin hinge section 5 which brings an end of the bumper member 10 in continuity with the damper 4, to displace it inward and outward are incorporated. A sensor element 12 for detecting obstacles existing ahead in the traveling direction is provided just in the bumper member 10 among the bumper member 10 and the damper 4, and the sensor elements are not prepared in the damper 4.
