PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the incoming directions of high-energy lines over a wide range.
SOLUTION: A sensor A (1) and a sensor B (2) are arranged at an interval D2. A collimator S (3) is arranged in the upper surface of the sensor A (1) at an interval D1, and a collimator T (4) is arranged in the lower surface of the sensor B (2) at the interval D1. Photosensitive surfaces of the sensors and the openings of the collimators are of the same size. When a source is located at some distant direction E2 and that radiation arrives along a vector E2, the shadow of the collimator is formed on the sensors A and B. By measuring the length of the shadow of the collimator, it is possible to determine the direction of the source.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
|
