PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small potentiometer of a wide effective electrical angle. SOLUTION: In this potentiometer 1, a magnet 13 fixed onto the first yoke 11 is formed into a diagonally cut cylindrical shape having a magnetic attractive face 13a arranged inclinedly to a magnetosensitive face 10a of a Hall element 10. A variation of magnetic flux density magnetosensed by the Hall element 10 is thereby sufficiently secured by a synergetic effect of a change of magnetic flux density due to a change in a thickness of the magnet 13, and a change of magnetic flux density due to a change of an air gap G, in accompaniment to rotation of a shaft 3. Resultingly, a linearity of the variation of the magnetic flux density to a variation of a rotation position of the shaft 3 is enhanced even in the small-sized potentiometer 1 to secure the wide range of effective electrical angleα.
