PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a listener operating in user mode to dispatch control of a client connection to a network component (NC) without exposing system memory or other sensitive services or components. SOLUTION: For example, a client component (CC) requests access to an NC through connection with a user-mode listener. Based on information contained in the client request, the listener passes a call to an application program interface (API), and the API returns a first set of data including user-mode context information. The listener passes the first set of data to the requested NC. Another call is made to an API including the first set of data and a request for socket duplication, and the API returns control of the requested socket to the NC.
