摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly record the histories of tape reels to be replaced and used for splicing to identify causes of troubles in splicing, even if splicing is performed during the operation of a component-mounting apparatus, and to correctly grasp how many components are left in each feeder wherein an individual tape reel is housed. <P>SOLUTION: Because of the structure of the feeders, an area between P2 and P1 is a range where splicing cannot be carried out any longer, because a tape which is supplying components is too short (this area is defined as the minimum length Lmin, and the number of components existing in this area is defined as the minimum number of components Nmin). At splicing, the remaining length of the tape which is supplying components is set to a maximum length. For example, the area between a component suction position P1 and a specific position P3 is the possible maximum length Lmax of the remaining length of the tape which is supplying the components and the number of components existing in the maximum length Lmax is defined as the maximum number of components Nmax.
