PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut CM (commercial) contained in a program of stereophonic broadcast without changing a broadcast signal itself transmitted from a broadcasting station, in a digital video recording device such as a hard disk recorder. SOLUTION: On the basis of information contained in a packet of a broadcast signal for SD broadcast distinction, broadcast data generated by decoding the broadcast signal are determined whether they are the broadcast data of SD broadcast (S11). When determined as SD broadcast (NO in S12), the broadcast data are regarded as CM (commercial) and cut (S14). Herein, since CM is generally transmitted by the broadcast signal for SD broadcast and the program itself is generally transmitted by the broadcast signal for HD broadcast, the broadcast data of SD broadcast are cut as mentioned above so that CM contained in the program of stereophonic broadcast can be cut without changing the broadcast signal itself transmitted from a broadcasting station.
