PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic semiconductor material with suppressed deterioration with time, an organic semiconductor thin film, an organic thin film transistor, a field effect transistor, and a switching element employing the material. SOLUTION: The organic semiconductor material contains a compound soluble in an organic solvent at a room temperature and having a partial structure expressed by a general formula (1a) or (1b). In the formula, X<SB>1</SB>and X<SB>2</SB>refer to S, O or NR<SB>1</SB>, and X<SB>3</SB>and X<SB>4</SB>refer to N or CR<SB>2</SB>. R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>refer to H or its substituent. A<SB>1</SB>-A<SB>4</SB>refer to C or N. C is a carbon atom having H, an aromatic hydrocarbon radical or an aromatic heterocyclic radical, at least two of A<SB>1</SB>-A<SB>4</SB>refer to a carbon atom having the aromatic hydrocarbon radical or the aromatic heterocyclic radical, and n refers to an integral of 1 or larger.
