PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a DVD player which allows a user to use desired functions and to effectively check its operations when reproducing a DVD. SOLUTION: The DVD player has an operation unit to set up reproduction modes. The CPU11 has a reproduction mode determination program 13a to determine the reproduction modes, a UOP information acquisition program 13b to acquire the UOP information when it is determined that the reproduction mode is a normal mode, a prohibited operation determination program 13c to determine if the operation instruction is a prohibited operation in the UOP information, a normal reproduction mode control program 13d to cancel the operation instruction if it is determined to be a prohibited operation or to carry out the instruction if it is not, an operation check mode control program 13e to carry out the instructed operation when the reproduction mode is determined to be a check mode, and a display control program 13f to make the display part indicate "operation check mode".
