PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resonator exciting method capable of easily adjusting the insertion loss, and a measuring method of an electromagnetic physical property values, capable of precisely measuring the electromagnetic physical property values of metallization or ceramics, in the millimeter wave band of 30 GHz or higher. SOLUTION: A resonant conductor 1 is formed on one side of a dielectric substrate 2 and a ground conductor 3, having the same electromagnetic physical property values as the resonant conductor 1, is formed on the other side of the dielectric substrate 2 to constitute a resonator A. In the resonator exciting method for resonating the resonator A by a loop antenna 11 with a diameter of 0.6 m or smaller, the resonance frequency (f) and no-load Q value Qu of the resonator A are measured by exciting and detecting the resonator A by the loop antenna 11 and the electromagnetic physical property value of the dielectric substrate 2 and/or the resonant conductor 1 are calculated, on the basis of the measured values of the resonance frequency (f) and the no-load Q value Qu.
