METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE START-UP OF AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

The invention relates to a method of controlling the start-up of an engine. The inventive method comprises the following steps consisting in: using an engine (28) comprising a plurality of cylinders (12) each housing a sliding piston (14), a crankshaft which is linked to the pistons (14), intake valves (16) and exhaust valves (18), injectors (26) and ignition means (24); using a sensor (2) comprising a reference index (10); controlling the rotation of the crankshaft; detecting the rotation of the crankshaft; selecting a block of cylinders for which the reference index (10) is detected less than a half-turn of the crankshaft before the piston (14) arrives at the top dead centre (32); controlling the injectors (26) of the selected cylinder block before the intake valves (16) of said block close; detecting the reference index (10); and controlling the ignition means (24).
