Symmetrical beam and crank mechanism and its application in piston machines as distinguished from the beam and crank mechanism, in that the length AB of a crank (2) is equal to the length BC of the handle of a crank (3) thus, rectilinear travel of the point A of a lever (1) is symmetrically divided in relation to the axis C of a shaft (4), as at the beginning and ending of the travel, when the crank (2) and handle of the crank (3) are extended in the line of the lever (1), sum total of their lengths equals to the half length of the rectilinear travel, i.e. AB +BC =CB +BA. Peculiarity of application of symmetrical beam and crank mechanism with piston machines (i.e. IC motors, steam engines, compressors and pumps) is based on the described symmetry of rectilinear travel of the lever (1), for it is due to this symmetry that enables to the lever (1) to be taken for a common piston lever of two oppostite also symmetrically set cylinders (of one same piston machine and two different piston machines, a drive engine and a driven engine one), operation of which is thus directly coupled by a common thrust and hauling mechanism |
