PROCESS FOR HIGH THROUGHPUT ELECTROHYDRODYNAMIC SPRAYING OF FLUIDS

A method for atomizing a fluid comprising subjecting an electrically conductive fluid (14) to an electric potential, and simultaneously forcing said fluid through a nozzle (22) having dielectric walls defining a nozzle opening. The subjecting and forcing steps desirably are performed so that said fluid is substantially atomized after passing out of the nozzle. Most preferably, the fluid exiting the nozzle exhibits a stable whipping mode of atomization.
