<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of increasing the number of expressible gray scales without significantly changing a basic design. <P>SOLUTION: The image display device for performing an image display by dividing one frame of an image signal into a plurality of sub-frames of different display periods and turning on/off the sub-frames is provided with; a driving signal generation circuit 1; a row signal electrode driving circuit 24 for supplying a display driving signal to a row signal electrode D: a column scanning signal electrode driving circuit 26 for supplying a column scanning signal to a column scanning signal electrode W; a plurality of shift registers 26A and 26B which are connected to either of the row digital electrode driving circuit or the column scanning signal electrode driving circuit; and a grouping means for grouping pixels into pixel groups according to the shift registers by dividing the number of shift registers into the same number of the shift register driving periods corresponding to each sub-frame. The pixel is driven by relating to the shift register driving period which is divided for every pixel group according to the display driving signal formed based on the pixel in the pixel group which is grouped. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
