PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotor that can be reduced in manufacturing cost and has high-torque performance by effectively obtaining magnet torque and reluctance toque, and to provide a motor equipped with the rotor. SOLUTION: The rotor 3 is edge-trimmed at an external periphery 31 and an internal peripheral side 32 in the radial direction, at least the external periphery 31 is formed of a magnetic material that can reduce an iron loss, and a plurality of permanent magnets 4, 4, ... are embedded in the external periphery 31 at intervals in the circumferential direction. In the external periphery 31, when a distance from the one-side face of a stator side to the permanent magnet 4 is set as (a), and a distance from the other face that faces the internal peripheral side 32 to the permanent magnet 4 is set as (b), the permanent magnet 4 is embedded in the external periphery 31 so that a value of b/a is not less than 1, thus constituting the rotor 3.
