The device has an unlocking latch for blocking the shifting of the locking component and is formed opposite to the direction of shifting in the area of the opening. The unlocking latch is activated in such a way that releasing of the locking component out of the opening, it gets locked. An independent claim is also included for method for locking a movable body part of a motor vehicle.
