<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an access frequency from a device to a management server in a device management system for transmitting prescribed monitoring information from the device to the management server. <P>SOLUTION: A device monitoring control unit is incorporated into the device connected to a prescribed network and transmits prescribed monitoring information related to the device to the management server connected to the network. The device monitoring control unit stores monitoring information, and determines whether the monitoring information to be transmitted to the management server is stored at preset timing. Then, when it is determined that the monitoring information to be transmitted is in storage, a substitute device is determined among the device and other devices connected to the network based on prescribed conditions. Further, when the other device is determined to be the substitute device, the other determined device is notified of monitoring information to be transmitted to the device and monitoring information to be transmitted to the other device together for sending to the management server. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
