PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably reproduce a high saturation color without impairing a device color gamut in CMS for real time gamut processing. SOLUTION: Color gamut information about an output device is generated with the use of an ICC profile (Step 201) and a color gamut conformance determination is made (Step 202). If an input color signal is outside the color gamut, it is mapped to a point within the color gamut (Step 203) and an output signal for the output device is calculated by interpolation using a polygon (Step 204).
