摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk detecting mechanism which employs a single light emitting element for both a disk insertion detecting optical path and a disk ejection detecting optical path and employs a single prism therefore reducing the cost of the mechanism. SOLUTION: Light beams emitted from a single light emitting element are optically divided into three directions by a prism 5, reflected, and reach an insertion detecting light receiving element through a disk insertion detecting optical path L1 and reach each of the ejection detecting light receiving elements through disk ejection detecting optical paths L2 and L3. When an optical disk is inserted, the disk insertion detecting optical path L1 is interrupted, so that no light beam from the light emitting element reaches the insertion detecting receiving element, the light receiving element is turned off and the insertion of the optical disk is detected. When the optical disk is ejected, the disk ejection detecting optical paths L2 and L3 are released from an interrupted condition, so that the light beams from the light emitting element reach each of the ejection detecting light receiving elements, these light receiving elements are turned on and the ejection of the optical disk is detected.
