PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain nanoparticle powder of silver suitable as the material for wiring formation for forming fine circuit patterns, particularly as the material for wiring formation by an ink jet process. SOLUTION: In the nanoparticle powder of silver, the average particle diameter measured by TEM observation (DTEM) is≤30 nm, the aspect ratio is <1.5, the X-ray crystal particle diameter (Dx) is≤30 nm, the single crystallization degree [(DTEM)/(Dx)] is≤5.0, and the CV value [=100×standard deviation (σ)/number mean particle diameter (DTEM)] is <40%, and an organic protective agent with the molecular weight of 100 to 400 is formed on the surface of each particle. The nanoparticle powder can be obtained by subjecting a silver salt to reduction treatment at 85 to 150°C in alcohol having the boiling point of 85 to 150°C under the coexistence of an organic protective agent.
