PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire which can improve driving stability without impairing riding comfort. SOLUTION: According to the radial tire, a reinforcing layer 11 is overlaid on a belt layer 8, the reinforcing layer 11 consisting of linear springs 9 which extend in the tire width direction and are lined up in the tire circumferential direction C at given intervals. Each spring 9 has a first circumferential extension 9a which extends in one tire circumferential direction C on one end of the spring 9 in the tire width direction, and a second circumferential extension 9b which extends in the other tire circumferential direction C on the other end of the spring 9 in the tire width direction. Both circumferential extensions 9a, 9b extend inclinedly to cross reinforcing cords f of the belt layer 8 in such a way that the slope direction of the extensions 9a, 9b relative to the tire circumferential direction C is reverse to that of the reinforcing cords f relative to the tire circumferential direction C.
