PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat display apparatus capable of generating addressing discharge with low voltage, improving maintenance of an address voltage and inhibiting abnormal discharge out of an effective display area. SOLUTION: The plasma display panel comprises a front base 101, a back base 102 arranged in parallel to the front base 101, barrier ribs 105a arranged between the front base 101 and the back base 102 and demarcating discharge cells together with the front base 101 and the back base 102, a plurality of electrodes 106 and 107 arranged to surround each of the discharge cells C, phosphor layers arranged in the discharge cells C respectively, discharge gas filled in each of the discharge cells C, wherein a part of the barrier rib 105a' arranged in an exterior periphery of the barrier rib 105a to demarcate the outside edge of the discharge cell is made thicker than other parts of the barrier rib 105a.
