<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fingerprint image pickup device allowing a finger to be freely inserted in a finger placing part in a non-contact state to take a photograph of a fingerprint. <P>SOLUTION: In this fingerprint image pickup device allowing the finger 6 to be freely inserted in the finger placing part 1 to take a photograph of the fingerprint 6c, light is irradiated onto the finger placing part 1 from a counter fingerprint side of the finger 6, from a positioning light projector 15, a position of a nail 6c in an optical axis direction is detected from reflection light when it is detected that the reflection light is the reflection light from the nail 6c, and the fingerprint 6a of the finger 6 is photographed when it is detected that the finger 6 is positioned within a prescribed range preset as a range not contacting with the inside of the finger placing part 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
