<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an organic EL (electroluminescence) display device having high definition and high picture quality using an organic EL pixel circuit having fewer elements and a longer life. <P>SOLUTION: In the pixel circuit fabricated by using an MOS process, a transistor T2 is used as a constant current source to apply a constant current Io on an organic EL thin film 4 connected to a transistor T3 to allow the organic EL thin film to emit light while the transistor T3 is energized. By designing the transistor T3 to be switched by a gate voltage resulting from a signal value written in a capacitor Cs and a lamp signal voltage Vcs, the organic EL thin film emits light in a period according to the signal value.
