<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data carrier capable of offering data when authentication is successful and of preventing illicit use of the data when authentication is not successful. <P>SOLUTION: This data carrier is constructed of a communication interface means transmitting/receiving a signal between a base material and an external apparatus arranged inside the base material, a lighting means, a translucent image part, a lens part, and a computing processing means connected to the communication interface means and capable of controlling the lighting means.
