PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slurry concentrating method capable of obtaining concentrated slurry with high concentration in a well mixed state by concentrating slurry containing a powder with low specific gravity and a powder with high specific gravity. SOLUTION: In a case that the slurry containing the powder with low specific gravity and the powder with high specific gravity is concentrated, the slurry is loaded with a flocculant and a revolving stream is formed and stirred so that a Reynolds number Re becomes 1,500 or above by rotating the flocculant-loaded slurry in a flocculation reaction tank 2 by stirring blades 3 and the flocculated powder is subsequently sedimented in a sedimentation tank 5 to obtain a slurry having a predetermined high concentration without separating the powder low in specific gravity and the powder with high specific gravity at the time of sedimentation. Further, by controlling the stagnation time of the slurry in the sedimentation tank 5 to a definite time range when the concentration of the slurry is set to 45-55 mass%, the concentrated slurry can be well discharged without closing the concentrated slurry discharge piping provided to the bottom part of the sedimentation tank while keeping the concentration of the slurry after concentration high.
